
Kendrapada: Over 3 lakh Olive Ridley sea turtles have laid eggs at Gahirmatha in two days.
Every year lakhs of Olive ridley turtles congregate on the coasts of Odisha to lay eggs.
As per the forest officials of Kendrapada, 88,000 Olive Ridley laid eggs on March 9, while 2,14,058 turtles laid eggs on March 10.
The forest officials are on high alert for the protection of eggs and are expecting the nesting would be good in the coming days. In 2022, over 5 lakh turtles laid eggs.
This year Rushikulya recorded the highest numbers of mass nesting. Over 6 lakh Olive Ridley turtles visited Rushikulya to lay their eggs.
