Over 25 lakh children in the age group of 15-18 years to be Vaccinated in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will administer Covid Vaccination to over 25 lakh children in the age group of 15-18 years, informed Family Welfare Director and state vaccination in-charge Dr Bijay Panigrahi on Monday. 

Registration for 25.53 lakh children will soon begin on COWIN, camps will be held in various schools and colleges for the vaccination drive. 

“We are yet to receive guidelines regarding the type of vaccine and number of doses to be administered during the vaccination drive. However, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted permission for the emergency use of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Zydus Cadila’s ZyCoVD vaccine for children above 12 years,” he said.

Speaking about the booster doses, he informed that over seven lakh frontline workers will be administered booster doses.

Sharing about administering booster doses to senior citizens, he said, “We have 52.37 lakh population in the 60 plus age group, but only those with comorbidities will be given priorities for the third dose.”
