OUHS Publishes First-Ever MBBS Examination Results, Marks Historic Day for Health Sector in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare Department and the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) celebrated a milestone today with the announcement of the first-ever results for the professional MBBS annual examination for the 2023-24 batch. The results, published just ten days after the examination, were lauded during a ceremony at the OUHS campus.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs, and Electronics and Information Technology, commended the OUHS Vice-Chancellor and the examination officers for their prompt and efficient work. “This is a historic day for OUHS and the health sector in Odisha. Publishing the results in such a short time frame is an impressive achievement,” Dr. Mahaling stated.

The minister also shared the state’s plan to integrate Odisha into the National Digital Health Mission, a move that will revolutionize healthcare delivery. Through this initiative, digital mapping of patients’ data will be conducted, and a Unified Identity Card will be issued to each patient. This card will store all relevant medical information, ensuring that healthcare providers can deliver better and more efficient treatment.

Dr. Mahaling further announced the upcoming launch of the Ayushman Bharat and Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Health Insurance Scheme, set to benefit around one crore families across Odisha. “Previously, healthcare under the old health card was limited to 900 hospitals. Now, eligible beneficiaries will have access to medical services in nearly 27,000 hospitals nationwide,” he added.

In addition to the result declaration, OUHS solidified its national and international presence by signing multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with esteemed institutions. These collaborations include partnerships with ICMR-RMRC Bhubaneswar, the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) Bhubaneswar, and the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Nursing Stream. OUHS also formalized ties with renowned medical faculties from across India and abroad, underscoring its commitment to academic excellence and cutting-edge research.

Highlighting the academic achievements of the students, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manash Ranjan Sahu announced that Shubhalaxmi Padhi from Sahid Rando Majhi Medical College, Kalahandi secured the top position in the MBBS examination with an impressive score of 726 out of 900. Other notable achievements include Pratikhya Paul, Subhalaxmi Padhi, and Hiranmayee Padmaja Tripathi, who secured the top positions in Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry respectively.
