
With an aim to provide free treatment to those who can’t afford the expanse, Dr Shankar Ramchandani an assistant professor Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla in Sambalpur district started an initiative of One Rupee Clinic in 2021.
Taking a step further, he has started another initiative of distributing medicines at Rs 1.
On the occasion of completing one year of providing health care services to needy for Rs 1, he organised a special event on February 12 where he announced about his new initiative.
“It is an initiative to help the needy people. All essential medicines will be available at the same price,” said Ramchandani.
Since the initiation of One Rupee Clinic, around 6, 933 patients have availed the facility, he informed.
The clinic has been set up at the Kachha Market area in Burla town and remains open from 7 am to 8 am in the morning and 6 pm to 7 pm in the evening.
