One Nation One Election: HLC Continues Stakeholder Interactions, Receives Support from Political and Legal Delegations

New Delhi:   Ram Nath Kovind, Chairman of the High Level Committee (HLC) on One Nation One Election, along with committee members Shri N. K. Singh, Dr. Subhash Kashyap, and Shri Sanjay Kothari, continued their series of interactions with political parties and stakeholders. Today, a delegation from Janata Dal (United) and representatives from Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad engaged with the HLC members, expressing their support for the concept of simultaneous elections.

The Janata Dal (United) delegation, comprising Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Member of Parliament & leader of the Parliamentary party, and Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha, General Secretary, presented a memorandum in favor of holding simultaneous elections. In their submission, they emphasized that simultaneous elections could alleviate the financial burden associated with frequent elections. They highlighted that consolidating campaigning, logistics, and security measures would result in cost reduction. The delegation also pointed out that synchronized elections might lead to more stable and continuous policy implementation.

Another delegation representing Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad, including Shri Shrihari Borikar, Dr. Seema Singh, Adv. Jivesh Tiwari, Adv. Bhaskar Gautam, Adv. Apoorva Singh, and Shri Jamtani Singh, made a presentation before the HLC, indicating their support for the idea of simultaneous elections.

The concept of One Nation One Election has been a subject of ongoing discussions, aiming to streamline the electoral process and reduce the frequency of polls. The HLC’s engagement with diverse stakeholders, including political parties and legal experts, underscores the comprehensive approach being taken to gather insights and perspectives on this significant electoral reform. The support received from the Janata Dal (United) and Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad further adds momentum to the ongoing discourse surrounding the feasibility and benefits of simultaneous elections.
