OMFED Achieves Highest-Ever Turnover, Registers Rs 10.23 Crore Net Profit

Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd. (OMFED) has registered its highest-ever turnover and posted a net profit of Rs 10.23 crore during the financial year 2025–26, marking a major milestone in the growth of the state’s dairy cooperative sector.

The achievement was highlighted during a high-level review meeting chaired by Fisheries & Animal Resources Development and MSME Minister Shri Gokulananda Mallick at the OMFED Head Office in Shaheed Nagar on Thursday.

Reviewing the Federation’s performance, the Minister said OMFED has strengthened its position as a trusted dairy brand in Odisha while simultaneously improving the livelihoods of lakhs of dairy farmers associated with the cooperative network.

He said the state government is focusing on increasing milk production, expanding dairy infrastructure, promoting value-added products, and implementing management reforms to make Odisha self-reliant in milk and dairy products.

OMFED recorded a turnover of Rs 1,036.82 crore during 2025–26, the highest in the Federation’s history, reflecting significant growth in milk procurement, processing and marketing activities.

The Minister reviewed the progress of milk cooperative societies, dairy plants, milk procurement systems and infrastructure development projects. He directed officials to address operational bottlenecks and expedite developmental initiatives across the dairy sector.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department Shri Prem Chandra Chaudhary informed that two new dairy plants with capacities of 50,000 litres at Sonepur and 30,000 litres at Tangi have been established to strengthen processing infrastructure in the state.

He further said that 1,061 new milk cooperative societies have been registered over the last two years, expanding the cooperative dairy network significantly.

OMFED Managing Director Shri Vijay Amruta Kulange presented the Federation’s future roadmap and stressed the importance of adopting hassle-free milk procurement systems and increasing production to improve the economic condition of nearly 3.28 lakh dairy farmers by 2030.

Under the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana, the Federation has established 21 milk chilling centres across Odisha to strengthen cold-chain facilities. At present, OMFED procures around 6.70 lakh litres of milk every day from nearly 3.24 lakh farmers through 4,455 milk cooperative societies.

To further improve grassroots-level procurement, 160 new milk collection centres are also being opened in various blocks across the state.

OMFED has also diversified its product range by introducing value-added dairy products including Lassi, UHT Chocolate Shake, A2 Milk, A2 Ghee, Balti Dahi and Gulab Jamun, which have received encouraging consumer response.

The meeting was attended by OMFED President Shri Kishore Chandra Pradhani, office bearers of various Milk Unions, officials of the Federation and senior departmental officers.
