
Bhubaneswar: Prof. Sukumar Mishra, a prominent figure in Odisha’s academic landscape, has been appointed as the Director of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad.
Mishra’s appointment comes as part of the Union Education Ministry’s selection of directors for six distinguished IITs nationwide, showcasing a blend of talent and expertise from across the country.
Having earned his M.Tech and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the esteemed National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, Mishra brings a wealth of academic experience and research prowess to his new role.
Currently serving as the Dean of Research and External Engagement at IIT-Delhi’s Abu Dhabi campus, Mishra’s career is adorned with accolades, including the Young Scientist Award (1999) by the Orissa Bigyan Academy and the INSA Medal for Young Scientist (2002).
His research interests span across Power Systems, Power Quality Studies, Renewable Energy, and Smart Grid technology, reflecting his commitment to advancing sustainable solutions in electrical engineering.
Alongside Mishra, the Union Education Ministry has appointed eminent individuals like Manindra Agrawal, Avinash Agarwal, Devendra Jalihal, Dhirendra S Katti, and Amit Patra as directors at IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Jodhpur, IIT-Guwahati, IIT-Goa, and IIT-BHU, respectively.
