Bhubaneswar: After a three-year hiatus, Odisha’s tableau featuring the intricate art of Pattachitra from the heritage craft hub of Raghurajpur village has been selected for the upcoming Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. The Ministry of Defence’s approval has paved the way for Odisha to showcase its cultural richness on Kartavyapath during the 75th Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
The inclusion of Odisha’s tableau is part of a distinguished list that features 15 states and one union territory. Alongside Odisha, states such as Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Ladakh (UT), Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh will also display their vibrant narratives during the Republic Day Parade.
States selected for the parade have received instructions to promptly commence fabrication activities for their respective tableaux at the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp in New Delhi. The deadline for completing the fabrication process is set for January 19, ensuring readiness for the full-dress rehearsal scheduled on January 23.
The Pattachitra tableau from Odisha is expected to not only showcase the state’s artistic prowess but also serve as a visual delight and cultural ambassador on the prestigious occasion of the Republic Day Parade.
