Bhubaneswar: In a transformative stride toward infrastructure modernization and regional development, Indian Railways has launched a massive station redevelopment initiative under the Amrit Station Scheme, targeting key railway hubs across Odisha’s KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) region. This ambitious project is designed to elevate railway stations in the region to international standards, equipping them with cutting-edge amenities, green technologies, and enhanced accessibility features.
The stations set for redevelopment include Balangir, Titlagarh, Kantabanji, Kesinga, Bhawanipatna, Rayagada, Muniguda, Gunupur, Koraput, Jeypore, Damanjodi, Harishankar Road, and Khariar Road—all vital for connecting interior Odisha to the broader national railway network.
The redevelopment plan not only reflects a vision for upgraded travel infrastructure but also reinforces Indian Railways’ commitment to inclusive development, regional connectivity, and green transportation. With the KBK region holding immense potential in tourism, agriculture, and trade, these upgraded stations are expected to act as vital gateways for economic growth.
The entire initiative will be executed in phases, with Indian Railways emphasizing timely delivery and high-quality implementation. As Odisha prepares to enter a new era of railway modernization, passengers and businesses alike can look forward to safer, smarter, and more comfortable journeys.
