Odisha’s Health Minister shot by ASI, airlifted to Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident Odisha’s Health Minister Naba Kishore Das was injured as an ASI fired at him in Brajrajnagar of Jharsuguda district.

The incident happened when he came out of the car to attend a programme and his supporters were garlanding him.

He sustained bullet injuries on his chest. he was immediately recued and rushed to the nearby hospital.

As per the latest information, he has been air lifted to Bhubaneswar for further treatment.

Condemning the attack Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, ‘I am shocked at the unfortunate incident of attack on honourable minister Shri Naba Das. I strongly condemn the attack on him. I pray for his early recovery.”

Crime branch has been directed to take up the investigation of the case. Senior officers of crime branch have been asked to go to the spot.

The accused cop, identified as Gopal Das was serving as an ASI at Gandhi Chhak police outpost. He was immediately nabbed and detained by police for questioning.

The reason behind the attack is yet to be known.
