Odisha Works Minister Reviews Construction of New SCB Medical College and Hospital Building

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan today conducted a review of the ongoing construction of the new building for SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The minister sought updates on the progress of this significant healthcare project from departmental officers, the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC), and the construction company responsible for the build.

The new campus, sprawling over 48 acres, is set to become a pivotal facility in the state’s healthcare infrastructure. It will house 266 ICU beds and 2,058 beds across various categories including general medicine, special medicine, special surgery, general surgery, and trauma care.

Additionally, the campus will feature 512 units within 13 residential towers to accommodate doctors and staff. During the review, officials informed Minister Harichandan about the construction status of a special hostel designed to accommodate 2,278 boys and girls, along with facilities such as a kitchen, laundry, data center, central store, and accommodation for patient attendants, as well as car parking spaces.

Minister Harichandan directed the officials and construction agencies to expedite the construction work and mandated the submission of progress reports every 15 days.
