
Chennai: Odisha’s young weightlifting talents displayed remarkable prowess at the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai. Sadananda Bariha, representing the High-Performance Centre (HPC), clinched the Gold in the fiercely contested 61 Kg Boys category.
In a display of sheer strength and skill, Bariha lifted an impressive 107 Kg in the snatch category and followed it up with a formidable 135 Kg in the clean & jerk, accumulating a total weight of 242 Kg to secure the coveted Gold medal.
Not to be outdone, another Odisha HPC athlete, Deepak Pradhan, showcased his prowess by claiming the Bronze in the 67 Kg Boys category. Pradhan executed a snatch of 108 Kg and a clean & jerk of 134 Kg, amassing a total of 242 Kg to clinch the third spot on the podium.
The outstanding performances of Sadananda Bariha and Deepak Pradhan not only add glory to Odisha’s sporting legacy but also exemplify the promising future of weightlifting in the state.
