Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Department of Water Resources has set an ambitious target to utilize 60% of its budget by the end of the third quarter of the 2024-25 financial year, in line with guidelines issued by the Department of Finance.
This directive was emphasized by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary (DC-cum-ACS) Anu Garg during a review meeting held at Rajiv Bhawan on Saturday. The hybrid-mode meeting was attended by senior officials, including Engineers-in-Chief, Chief Engineers, and Chief Construction Engineers, with officers from Bhubaneswar participating online.
An official press release highlighted Garg’s focus on efficient financial management, timely execution of projects, and effective utilization of allocated funds. She underscored the importance of adhering to the Cash Management System to ensure prompt disbursement and utilization of funds while addressing challenges in budget spending.
“Efficient financial management and timely project execution are critical to achieving our departmental goals,” Garg stated, urging officers to closely monitor expenditure progress and expedite fund releases to meet the set financial targets.
The review aimed to streamline financial processes, accelerate ongoing projects, and ensure optimal resource utilization for the timely completion of departmental objectives. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and ensuring impactful use of public funds in infrastructure development.
