
Bhubaneswar: Following the arrest of Dhiman Chakma, IAS (2021 batch), Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Kalahandi district, Odisha Vigilance has intensified its investigation by conducting raids across multiple states to trace assets and gather evidence linked to the bribery case.
Chakma was arrested on June 9, 2025, in a trap case for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a local businessman. The case was registered under Vigilance Cell PS Case No. 6 dated June 3, 2025, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
As part of the ongoing probe, three Odisha Vigilance teams have been dispatched to various locations in Tripura and Himachal Pradesh associated with the accused officer. Acting on search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, the teams are conducting simultaneous searches at Chakma’s residence in Kanchanpur, North Tripura, and the homes of his in-laws at Saminala under Manali Police Station in Kullu district, and Rangbey under Keylong Police Station in Lahaul-Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh.
During the searches, relevant documents pertaining to bank deposits, investments in financial instruments, and other financial records are being collected and scrutinized. Odisha Vigilance is also verifying the details of movable and immovable properties to examine any potential disproportionate assets.
