Bhubaneswar: Urban infrastructure across Odisha is set for another major upgrade as the State Government will launch and dedicate 494 development projects worth ₹74.87 crore under the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana (MSBY), covering 37 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
The projects, which include both completed works and new initiatives, will be formally unveiled during a State-level programme on Saturday. Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra will virtually inaugurate the completed projects and lay foundation stones for the upcoming ones.
The government will dedicate 344 completed projects in 31 ULBs to the public. Executed at a cost of ₹36.89 crore, the projects comprise roads, drainage systems, community infrastructure and other civic assets aimed at improving urban services and strengthening local infrastructure.
Among the ULBs, Boudhgarh leads with 58 completed projects, followed by Basudevpur with 54 and Rourkela with 34, reflecting the extensive implementation of development works across different regions.
In addition, foundation stones will be laid for 150 new projects in 19 ULBs, involving an investment of ₹37.99 crore. Cuttack Municipal Corporation will account for the largest share with 50 projects worth ₹17.20 crore, while Rayagada will see the launch of 22 projects to improve urban infrastructure.
The Housing and Urban Development Department has directed all Municipal Commissioners and Executive Officers to join the programme through the Odisha State Wide Area Network (OSWAN) and ensure necessary arrangements at their respective urban local bodies.
Officials said the latest phase of projects under MSBY is part of the State Government’s continued efforts to modernise urban centres, expand civic infrastructure and provide better public amenities, contributing to more inclusive and sustainable urban development across Odisha.
