Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to connectivity and economic growth, Odisha is set to launch direct flights to several key cities from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda.
The new flight routes from Bhubaneswar will include direct connections to Indore, Dehradun, Kochi, Jaipur, and Lucknow. Meanwhile, Jharsuguda will soon have new flights to Hyderabad, Raipur, Lucknow, and Mumbai.
This development follows the state’s recently approved New Destination Policy, which has provided incentives to airlines to expand their services at these airports. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance air connectivity, facilitating increased tourism and trade opportunities across Odisha.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) made the announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that the new flight routes will not only improve domestic connectivity but also provide an important platform for the transportation of agricultural products through belly cargo, boosting the state’s economy.
