Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to host the Global Energy Leaders Summit 2025 on December 6–7, bringing together global policymakers, industry experts, and energy ministers to deliberate on the future of sustainable and inclusive energy transitions. The landmark event is being jointly organized by the Tony Blair Institute (TBI) and the Government of Odisha.
The summit will witness participation from eminent international figures, including former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Finland Prime Minister and TBI Strategic Counselor Sanna Marin, and energy ministers from the UAE, Singapore, and Bhutan. In a significant development, energy ministers from all Indian states will also take part and address various sessions during the two-day event.
A preparatory meeting for the summit was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, who emphasized the importance of the event in positioning Odisha as a key player in India’s renewable and sustainable energy landscape.
“The conference will serve as a major platform for investment, innovation, and collaboration in India’s power sector. It will also help build a stronger Odisha by aligning economic growth with ecological balance,” said Singh Deo.
The summit will feature a series of high-level sessions, policy dialogues, and investor roundtables focused on clean energy, green transition, and energy security. Alongside the technical discussions, the event will also showcase Odisha’s rich art, culture, and history, highlighting the state’s identity as a vibrant and forward-looking destination for global collaboration.
The preparatory meeting was attended by Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, CMD, OPTCL, Satya Priya Rath, MD, GRIDCO, and representatives from the Tony Blair Institute including Vivek Agrawal, Ninad Sagar, and Pierre Walsh (virtually).
