Bhubaneswar: Marking the agrarian festival of Nuakhai with a welfare push, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will distribute ₹1,041 crore to more than 51 lakh farmers under the CM Kisan Yojana on Thursday.
The initiative, to be implemented through the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment, will provide financial assistance via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to small, marginal, landless, and urban farmers across the state.
As per the scheme, each eligible farmer receives ₹4,000 annually in two instalments. The programme is specifically designed to extend support to those not covered under the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).
Last year, during the Nuakhai celebrations, the Chief Minister had launched the CM Kisan Yojana with nearly 46 lakh farmers receiving benefits. This year’s transfer marks a considerable expansion, bringing over five lakh additional beneficiaries under its fold.
Officials said the financial support will provide timely relief to farmers while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to rural livelihoods and agrarian growth.
