Bhubaneswar: In a proactive measure to enhance disaster preparedness, Odisha, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), is set to organize a State-level Mock Exercise on Chemical Disaster on 11th January 2024. This strategic drill will encompass 28 identified industries across 10 districts, including Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kurdha, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Sundergarh, and the Paradip Port.
The primary objective of this comprehensive Mock Exercise is to streamline emergency response mechanisms, pinpoint potential gaps in areas such as detection, early warning, alert systems, evacuation protocols, and emergency response and containment strategies at both industrial and local government levels.
This exercise underscores Odisha’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents by fostering a proactive and efficient response to potential chemical disasters. By conducting such drills, the state aims to strengthen its disaster management capabilities and minimize the impact of such incidents on both industry and local communities. The Mock Exercise aligns with the broader vision of creating a resilient and prepared Odisha in the face of potential disasters.
