Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will begin distributing new ration cards to eligible beneficiaries starting next month, announced Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday. The distribution follows a rigorous review of over one million applications to ensure that only qualified individuals receive benefits.
As part of the vetting process, authorities have employed e-KYC verification to confirm eligibility accurately. This step aims to uphold the integrity of the program by ensuring that assistance reaches those genuinely in need. Previously, the government stated its intention to remove ineligible individuals from the ration cardholder list under the Food Security Act, a move aimed at maximizing resources for the most vulnerable.
