Odisha State Film Awards Honours Excellence in Odia Cinema

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Film Awards for 2020, 2021, and 2022 were presented in a grand ceremony held in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, celebrating the artistic and cinematic contributions of the state’s filmmakers and artists.

The prestigious Mohansundar Dev Goswami Award was conferred upon renowned personalities Anant Mahapatra, Srinivasa Mahapatra, and Jayiram Samal, recognizing their significant contributions to the Odia film industry.

The best film awards were given to Shahid Raghu Sardar (2020), Pratiksha and Dalchini (2021), and Daman (2022), highlighting the diversity and creativity of storytelling in Odia cinema.

For 2020, Dekshisha Panar received the best actor award for his performance in Raghu Sardar, while Kavya Kiran Shukla won the best actress award.

In 2021, the best actor award went to Deepnavit Das Mahapatra for Pratiksha, and Suryamayi Mohapatra was recognized as the best actress for her role in Dalchini.

For 2022, Babushan Mohanty was honored as the best actor for his role in the critically acclaimed Daman, and Lopamudra Mishra won the best actress award for her performance in Bower Haat Bax.

The ceremony was graced by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, who attended as the chief guest. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj were also present, adding to the event’s significance.

Governor Das lauded the winners and the Odia film industry for their dedication to promoting culture and storytelling. He emphasized the importance of cinema as a medium to reflect societal values and inspire change.

Deputy Chief Minister Parida highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the film industry, while Culture Minister Suraj praised the creativity and resilience of Odia filmmakers.

The Odisha State Film Awards continue to be a beacon of encouragement for the regional film industry, honoring talent and fostering innovation in cinema. The 2020-2022 awards showcased the evolving narratives and artistic excellence that define Odia films, reinforcing their cultural significance.
