Odisha Showcases Maritime Strength and Future Vision at India Maritime Week 2025

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted the state’s illustrious maritime past and its ambitious roadmap for the future during his visit to the Odisha Pavilion at India Maritime Week 2025. The Chief Minister lauded Odisha’s transformation from an ancient maritime power to a modern hub of global trade and blue economy innovation.

In a social media post, CM Majhi expressed pride in the state’s vibrant display, which illustrated Odisha’s evolution from a land of skilled sailors who once sailed to Southeast Asia to today’s forward-looking state equipped with world-class ports, modern coastal infrastructure, and growing investments in the blue economy.

“Visited the Odisha Pavilion at #IndiaMaritimeWeek2025 and witnessed an impressive display showcasing the State’s remarkable maritime journey—from our sailors navigating distant shores fostering trade and cultural exchange, to the present day marked by world-class ports, robust coastal infrastructure, and expanding investments in the blue economy,” Majhi wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The Odisha Pavilion served as a centrepiece at the event, showcasing the state’s strategic coastal advantage, progressive port policy, and integrated maritime development approach. It emphasized Odisha’s growing importance in India’s eastern maritime corridor and its potential to become a key logistics and trade hub in South Asia.

Chief Minister Majhi underscored the state government’s commitment to preserving Odisha’s maritime legacy while steering it toward a sustainable, technology-driven future. He noted that the government is aligning its efforts with national initiatives to strengthen coastal infrastructure, boost exports, and expand the maritime economy.

“Odisha’s maritime history is not just a story of the past—it’s a foundation for the future,” Majhi stated. “With modern ports, deep-water facilities, and a strong blue economy focus, Odisha is ready to lead India’s next phase of maritime growth.”

By blending heritage with innovation, Odisha’s participation in India Maritime Week 2025 showcased how the state is charting a bold new course—honouring its ancient seafaring roots while emerging as a dynamic maritime powerhouse on the global stage.
