The state government’s efforts to promote the adoption of electric vehicles have played a key role in this growth. Minister Jena emphasized the success of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy-2021, which provides significant incentives to EV buyers. As part of this policy, buyers are exempt from motor vehicle tax and eligible for subsidies, making EVs more affordable.
The subsidies under the policy include:
These financial incentives have proven to be an attractive proposition for consumers looking to transition to electric mobility.
In addition to subsidies, the state government is also working to expand the EV infrastructure. With increasing registrations and policy support, Odisha is positioning itself as a leader in the adoption of sustainable and eco-friendly transportation, aligning with national goals to reduce carbon emissions and promote cleaner alternatives.
