Odisha Reviews Food Distribution, Procurement Systems at State-Level Supply Officers’ Conference

Bhubaneswar: Senior supply officers from across Odisha gathered at Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday for a State-level conference aimed at reviewing procurement operations, strengthening the public distribution system and improving implementation of consumer welfare schemes across the state.

The conference of Chief Civil Supply Officers (CCSOs), Civil Supply Officers (CSOs) and Additional Civil Supply Officers was organised at the State Convention Centre by the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department.

Speaking at the event, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra called upon district officials to ensure transparent and accountable implementation of departmental programmes at the grassroots level.

He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts for successful implementation of the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana and urged officers to work with dedication and public service commitment.

Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, while reviewing the department’s performance, emphasised the responsibility of supply officials in protecting consumer interests, creating awareness and maintaining stability in the market system.

He directed officers to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure timely and efficient execution of welfare schemes through citizen-centric administration.

Managing Director of the Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy and Additional Secretary Sudam Charan Mandal also addressed the gathering on procurement operations and administrative issues.

Officials presented detailed reports on quality control, accounts management, distribution systems and procurement-related activities, while discussions were held on improving operational efficiency and departmental coordination.

District officers shared best practices and field experiences on farmer registration, e-KYC verification, GPS-based Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS), Public Distribution System (PDS) management, route optimisation, mill inspections and financial administration.

Suggestions from district-level officials regarding procurement policies and service delivery improvements were also discussed during the conference.

Top-performing districts were felicitated for their achievements in paddy procurement, implementation of e-KYC and GPS-based vehicle tracking systems.
