Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has announced that 496 out of 1,984 Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) Arts posts will be reserved specifically for TGT (Odia) candidates. These positions will come with the same pay scale as TGT (Arts), according to a notification issued by the School and Mass Education Department.
The TGT (Odia) posts will be categorized as a sub-category of TGT (Arts), ensuring parity in compensation for selected candidates. This move aims to create dedicated opportunities for candidates proficient in Odia and bolster the teaching of the language across the state.
By prioritizing Odia in educational institutions, the government seeks to uphold cultural heritage while addressing the need for qualified teachers specializing in the language. The initiative is expected to strengthen the role of Odia in the school curriculum and enhance students’ proficiency in the state’s official language.
