Odisha Prepares 71 Newly Upgraded Schools for Higher Secondary Operations

Bhubaneswar: With 71 government schools recently upgraded to the higher secondary level, the Odisha Directorate of Higher Secondary Education has started orienting their heads on the systems and responsibilities needed to ensure a smooth transition to higher secondary education.

The Directorate organised a one-day orientation programme for the Head Masters-cum-Principals-in-Charge of the newly upgraded institutions at B.J.B. Higher Secondary School in Bhubaneswar.

The programme focused on practical aspects of running higher secondary institutions, including the online admission process, engagement of guest faculty, academic planning and administrative procedures.

Director of Higher Secondary Education Niyati Pattnaik, IAS, emphasised that effective leadership at the school level would be crucial to the success of the newly upgraded institutions. She called upon the school heads to create a conducive academic environment and ensure that students receive quality education along with proper guidance.

The orientation also sought to familiarise the heads with the procedures to be followed by the schools and strengthen coordination with the Directorate. Joint Director Sasmita Mali stressed the importance of adhering to prescribed procedures and maintaining close communication between the institutions and the Directorate.

Deputy Director C.H. Vijayalaxmi highlighted the need for proper academic planning and effective institutional management to ensure that the upgraded schools function efficiently.

The Directorate said the orientation is part of its efforts to provide handholding support to newly upgraded Government Higher Secondary Schools as they take on additional academic and administrative responsibilities.

The initiative is expected to help the institutions put appropriate systems in place and strengthen their preparedness to provide a quality higher secondary learning environment for students.
