
Cuttack: Unnati Hooda and Kiran George registered contrastic victories to clinch the women’s and men’s singles title respectively in the Odisha Open Super 100 badminton tournament on Sunday.
14 year old Hooda defeated Smit Toshniwal 21-18, 21-11 in just 35 minutes to win the title while Kiran got defeated Priyanshu Rajawat 21-15, 14-21, 21-18 in 58 minutes to win the men’s category.
In the mixed doubles category, M R Arjun and Treesa Jolly lost the match to Sri Lankan duo Sachin Dias and Thilini Hendadahewa by 16-21, 20-22.
While in the doubles category, the team of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated compatriots Shruti Mishra and Sanyogita Ghorpade 21-12, 21-10.
In the men’s doubles final, Indian combination of PS Ravikrishna and Udayakumar Shankar Prasad could not build on their first game heroics and went down 18-21, 21-14, 21-16 against Malaysia’s Nur Mohd Azriyn and Khim Wah Lim.
