Odisha Minister Conducts Aerial Survey of Flood-Hit Districts, Reviews Relief Measures

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Friday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendujhar districts to assess the extent of inundation and review the ongoing relief and rescue operations.

The aerial inspection was undertaken to evaluate the prevailing flood situation and waterlogging in the affected districts. The Minister was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Rajesh Prabhakar Patil.

The visit comes as the state government continues to closely monitor the flood situation triggered by heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha, with district administrations carrying out relief, rescue and restoration measures.

Earlier in the day, Pujari chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan with district collectors and senior officers deputed to monitor the flood situation across the state. The meeting reviewed the evolving rainfall and flood scenario, preparedness of district administrations and the response measures being undertaken in vulnerable areas.

Officials discussed the latest ground situation, ongoing evacuation and relief operations, and inter-departmental coordination to ensure timely assistance to affected people.

The state government has been maintaining round-the-clock surveillance of the flood situation and has directed district administrations to remain on high alert while ensuring that rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures are carried out without delay.
