Odisha Launches ‘Odisha Yatri’ App to Transform Urban Mobility with Seamless, Cashless Travel

Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards modern, citizen-centric urban transport, the Government of Odisha has launched Odisha Yatri – One App. Many Journeys. A Smarter Odisha, a unified digital mobility platform aimed at delivering integrated, inclusive and technology-driven travel solutions across the State.

Conceived with a strong focus on digital governance, commuter convenience and last-mile connectivity, Odisha Yatri brings multiple modes of transport onto a single application, enabling citizens to plan and undertake everyday journeys with greater ease, speed and efficiency.

As part of the initiative, the government has introduced FASTicket, a QR-based in-bus digital ticketing system for Ama Bus services. QR codes have been installed inside all Ama Buses, allowing commuters to book tickets after boarding through the Odisha Yatri App. The system enables ticket generation within three seconds, significantly reducing ticketing time from nearly 30 seconds to just a few seconds, while eliminating queues, cash handling and manual verification.

FASTicket is a key component of Odisha Yatri’s broader vision to create a statewide multimodal mobility ecosystem. Through the app, commuters can already access bus, auto and cab services seamlessly on a single digital platform, ensuring smoother transitions between different modes of transport.

To promote affordability and inclusivity in public transport, Odisha Yatri offers a 10 per cent discount for male commuters and a 15 per cent discount for female commuters, underscoring the State’s commitment to equitable access and gender-responsive urban mobility.

Highlighting the importance of last-mile connectivity in building sustainable transport systems, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee, said that efficient urban mobility depends on seamless links between public transport and citizens’ doorsteps. She noted that Odisha Yatri has been designed to bridge this gap by integrating multiple travel options on a single digital platform. Initiatives like FASTicket, she added, simplify daily commutes, enhance convenience and encourage greater adoption of public transport through technology-enabled and affordable solutions.

By enabling paperless and cashless ticketing, integrating multiple transport modes and strengthening last-mile access, Odisha Yatri marks a decisive move towards a connected, efficient and future-ready public mobility system, significantly enhancing the daily travel experience of commuters across Odisha.
