Odisha Holds Stakeholder Consultation on Proposed Amendment to EV Policy

Bhubaneswar: A stakeholder consultation meeting on the proposed amendment to the Odisha Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy was held today under the chairpersonship of Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport Department. The meeting aimed to strengthen Odisha’s EV ecosystem and lay the groundwork for the upcoming Odisha EV Policy 2.0, aligning with the State’s vision of Viksit Odisha 2036.

The consultation brought together key officials and experts from multiple departments and sectors. Among those present were Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, CMD–OSRTC N.B.P.S. Rajput, and MD–CRUT Sanjaya Biswal, along with senior representatives from the Housing & Urban Development, Energy, Finance, and Skill Development & Technical Education Departments. The meeting was held in the 5th-floor conference hall of Kharavel Bhawan.

Participants deliberated on critical aspects including enhanced purchase incentives for EVs, benefits for vehicle retro-fitment and scrappage, development of charging infrastructure under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, and the establishment of a dedicated State EV Fund to ensure the long-term sustainability of EV initiatives.

Emphasising inter-departmental coordination and greater private sector participation, Padhee highlighted the importance of capacity building and policy convergence to facilitate a smooth and inclusive transition to electric mobility across the State.
