
Bhubaneswar: More than 4,600 candidates received government appointment letters as the Odisha government organised a large-scale Nijukti Mela at Kalinga Stadium on Thursday, marking a significant push towards employment generation in the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed appointment letters to 4,623 recruits across 27 departments, underscoring the government’s continued focus on filling vacancies and strengthening administrative capacity.
The School and Mass Education Department Odisha accounted for the majority of appointments with 4,113 posts. Other departments that received recruits included the Forest Environment and Climate Change Department Odisha (154), Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department Odisha (143), Steel and Mines Department Odisha (77), Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department Odisha (70), Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Odisha (52), and Skill Development Department Odisha (14), among others.
Officials said the recruitment drive is part of a broader effort to enhance public service delivery by addressing manpower gaps across key sectors.
Earlier, on December 30, 2025, the state had distributed appointment letters to 1,543 candidates in 11 departments. With the latest additions, the total number of government jobs provided over the past 22 months has now crossed 44,000.
