Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Government has embarked on an initiative to provide secure accommodations for women workers in proximity to industrial areas, with a particular focus on the seafood processing sector, poised to generate substantial employment opportunities.
Under this visionary plan, a Working Women’s Hostel will be developed within the seafood park, complete with essential social and community infrastructure. The proposed Worker’s Hostel at Seafood Park Deras in Khordha aims to cater to 6,952 women workers. This strategic move aims to enhance safety, productivity, cost-effectiveness, and reduce turnaround time for industrial units, along with minimizing travel time to work.
In a significant development, the State Cabinet has granted approval for the turnkey tender of the project, which involves the construction of a 6,952-bedded working women’s hostel at Seafood Park Deras, Khordha. The estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 329.00 crore, with funding secured from SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India). The ambitious endeavor is anticipated to be executed within a span of 27 months, ushering in a transformative phase for women workers in the region.
