Odisha Govt Unveils Guidelines for Subhadra Yojana; PM Modi to Launch First Installment on September 17

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has officially released guidelines for the highly anticipated Subhadra Yojana, a welfare scheme aimed at empowering women. The first installment of the financial assistance under the scheme will be distributed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, coinciding with his birthday.

According to the Women & Child Development Department, the scheme provides annual financial assistance of ₹10,000 to eligible women aged 21 to 60. This support will be delivered in two equal installments, with a total of ₹50,000 to be distributed over five years. The Subhadra Yojana aims to benefit women across all 30 districts of Odisha, enhancing their financial independence and economic security.

Key Features and Eligibility

Women beneficiaries will receive a Subhadra ATM-cum-Debit Card to access the funds. To encourage digital transactions, the scheme also offers an additional incentive of ₹500 to 100 beneficiaries from each gram panchayat and urban local body who record the highest number of digital transactions.

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Women aged between 21 and 60 as of July 1, 2024.
  • Exclusions: Women from economically well-off families, government servants, Income Tax payees, and those receiving government assistance of ₹18,000 or more per year are not eligible.
  • Required Documents: Aadhaar card linked to the applicant’s mobile number, an Aadhaar-enabled bank account, and the completion of e-KYC.

Application Process

Interested women can apply for the Subhadra Yojana by filling out forms available at Anganwadi centers, block offices, Mo Seva Kendras, and Jan Seva Kendras. Additionally, a dedicated call center will be set up to assist applicants with the process.

Financial Distribution

The financial assistance will be credited directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries on two significant dates: Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day (March 8), emphasizing the state’s commitment to supporting women’s empowerment.
