Odisha Govt to Provide Free Residential UPSC Coaching to 200 Aspirants

Bhubaneswar: Aspiring civil servants from Odisha will soon have an opportunity to receive free coaching and residential support for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination, with the state government announcing a special coaching programme for the 2026-27 academic session.

The Higher Education Department on Sunday invited applications for the programme, under which 200 candidates will be selected through an entrance examination and provided 11 months of intensive training for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

According to the department, the coaching programme will cover General Studies as well as optional subjects prescribed in the UPSC syllabus. The training is aimed at helping candidates prepare effectively for both the Preliminary and Main examinations through structured academic guidance and focused preparation.

To ensure that financial constraints do not hinder deserving candidates, the programme will be fully residential. The state government will bear the expenses of lodging and meals for all selected aspirants during the training period.

Admission to the programme will be based on a pre-qualifying entrance test scheduled to be held on June 28. Only candidates who are domiciles of Odisha will be eligible to apply. The application fee has been fixed at Rs 100.

The online application process will begin at 11 am on June 8 and remain open until 11.45 pm on June 19 through the SAMS portal. Applicants will be allowed to make corrections to their forms on June 20.

Admit cards for the entrance examination will be available for download from June 24 through the HIMS and SAMS portals. The provisional answer key will be released on June 29, while candidates can submit objections on July 2 and July 3. The revised answer key is scheduled to be published on July 8.

The department has informed that the schedule for publication of the final selection list, document verification, admission formalities and commencement of coaching classes will be announced at a later date.

Detailed information regarding eligibility conditions, application procedures and other guidelines has been made available on the Higher Education Department and SAMS portals.
