
Bhubaneswar: In a significant step to enhance academic infrastructure, the Institute of Mathematics and Applications (IMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Odisha Construction Corporation Limited (OCCL) today at Kharvel Bhawan. The collaboration aims to upgrade and expand facilities at the institute, with a total sanctioned amount of ₹26.05 crore from the state government.
The MoU was signed between IMA Director Prof. Josabanta Jena and OCCL General Manager Shri Pratap Chandra Chaudhury in the presence of Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra and Principal Secretary Chithra Arumugam.
As per the agreement, the funds will be utilized for constructing a new library building, staff quarters for faculty members, and additional floors on both the hostel and academic block. The Odisha Construction Corporation Limited will execute the project, which is expected to be completed within two years.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Krushna Chandra Patra emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening science and mathematics education in the state through infrastructural development and institutional support.
Senior officials, including OCCL Managing Director Bibhuti Bhusan Dash, Additional Secretary of the Science & Technology Department Sibani Mohanty, Puja Mishra, and Urmiprava Moharana, along with faculty and staff members of IMA, were also present during the signing ceremony.
The initiative marks a forward step in positioning IMA as a hub for advanced mathematical research and academic excellence in eastern India.
