Bhubaneswar: In a notable decision aimed at enhancing the recognition of sports talent and contributions in the state, the Odisha government has renamed the ‘Biju Patnaik Sports Award’ to ‘Odisha Rajya Krida Samman.’
The Sports and Youth Services Department of the state government issued an official notification on Saturday, announcing the change.
The Odisha Rajya Krida Samman will honour sportspersons from Odisha who have delivered exceptional performances in any recognized sports throughout the year, bringing pride to both the state and the nation.
In addition to athletes, the award will also recognize the significant contributions of distinguished coaches, sports journalists, and sports organizations for their outstanding achievements and dedication to the field of sports.
