Bhubaneswar: With rising summer demand and the approach of Kalbaisakhi storms, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Monday directed power utilities to ensure uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply across the state during a high-level review of the Energy Department.
The meeting, held at Lok Seva Bhawan, was attended by senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Kumar Dev, OPTCL CMD Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, and CEOs of all DISCOMs.
Reviewing preparedness for peak summer load and storm-related disruptions, Singh Deo emphasised that consumer complaints must be resolved on priority within defined timelines. He also instructed DISCOMs to use high-quality materials in maintenance and restoration work to prevent recurring faults and improve system reliability.
Highlighting the importance of citizen-centric service delivery, the Deputy Chief Minister called for polite and proactive engagement with consumers. He further directed an increase in dedicated teams for faster grievance redressal.
Public safety was also a key focus area, with Singh Deo issuing strict guidelines on the installation of hoardings and billboards near electrical infrastructure. DISCOMs, in coordination with urban local bodies, have been asked to ensure adherence to safety norms to prevent accidents during high winds and storm conditions.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to 24×7 power supply, he directed officials to remain on high alert during the summer months and submit weekly compliance reports on the measures discussed.
