Odisha Govt Orders Closure of Liquor Shops in Cyclone-Affected Areas

Bhubaneswar: In preparation for the impending Cyclone Dana, the Odisha Government has directed the closure of liquor shops in districts expected to be affected by the storm. This includes both regular liquor stores and outlets selling country liquor, according to Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra.

The Minister announced that all liquor shops in these regions will be sealed starting from this evening as a preventive measure to ensure public safety during the cyclone.

The government is also making arrangements to ensure uninterrupted power supply to water pump houses in urban areas. Mohapatra assured that generator sets will be deployed at all pump stations to maintain water supply during potential power outages caused by the cyclone.

To address concerns of waterlogging, motor pumps have been procured, and special care will be given to protect newborns in affected areas. The government will ensure an adequate supply of mineral water and water tankers to areas likely to experience the cyclone’s impact.
