
Bhubaneswar: With dense fog enveloping Odisha over the past few days, the state government has issued a crucial advisory to address the challenges faced by commuters. The Transport department, through a press release on Thursday, provided essential guidelines to ensure safety on the roads amid reduced visibility, minimizing the risk of accidents.
The advisory urges individuals to adhere to the following safety measures while traveling in foggy conditions:
1.Reduce vehicle speed and allocate additional time for reaching the destination.
2.Maintain a safe distance between vehicles to ensure adequate braking time.
3.Keep headlights on at all times during foggy weather and use fog lamps to enhance visibility.
4.Pay close attention to road markings and remain vigilant regarding turns and other road signages.
5.Drive with utmost concentration, avoiding distractions such as mobile phones, earphones, and loud music.
Additionally, the Transport department announced that daily fog reports would be shared on the social media handles of the State Transport Authority (STA). Citizens are advised to check these reports and plan their travels accordingly.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in specific places across several districts in Odisha until 8:30 am on Friday, including Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir, and Nabarangpur.
