Bhubaneswar: In response to the detection of five new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours in Odisha, the state government has issued an alert to district health authorities and medical colleges. Niranjan Mishra, Director of Public Health, emphasized the need for immediate and proactive measures to combat any potential surge in positive cases.
The authorities have been directed to intensify surveillance, increase testing at all health institutions from CHC and above, strictly follow home isolation protocols for positive cases, ensure dedicated and oxygen-supported beds, adhere to COVID management strategies, and collaborate with district administration for community awareness campaigns.
The emphasis is on promoting COVID-appropriate behaviour, especially among symptomatic, elderly, and vulnerable populations. Additionally, the directive includes ensuring the availability of test kits, reagents, drugs, and consumables, timely data entry and reporting, and providing training and capacity building for healthcare providers and laboratory personnel. The total number of COVID positive cases in the state has reached 13, with the new patients currently undergoing stable treatment under home isolation.
