Odisha Govt Hikes Salaries for Junior Teachers, Enhances Benefits

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved a significant increase in the monthly salary of Junior Teachers (Schematic) working at the primary and upper-primary levels. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the decision to raise the monthly salary from Rs 11,000 to Rs 16,000.

In addition to the salary hike, the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) contribution for these teachers has been increased from Rs 1,443 to Rs 1,950 per month. With this revision, the total monthly payment, including EPF, has risen from Rs 12,543 to Rs 17,950 for each teacher.

This move will benefit approximately 13,740 Junior Teachers (Schematic) employed across the state, with the state government set to bear an additional annual expenditure of Rs 89.15 crore to accommodate the pay revision.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing primary education, stating that this decision reflects a commitment to improving the livelihoods of junior teachers and elevating the quality of education. He also highlighted initiatives like the Godabarish Mishra Model Primary School Scheme, aimed at further strengthening the primary education system.
