Odisha Govt Focuses on Enhancing Education Standards in Schools

Bhubaneswar: To improve the quality of education in government and government-aided schools across Odisha, Nityananda Gond, Minister of School and Mass Education, STSC Development, M&BC Welfare Department, SSEPD, led a comprehensive review meeting today. The meeting, held at the conference hall of the School and Mass Education Department, focused on enhancing infrastructure, educational environment, and effective school management.

Accompanied by additional secretaries, joint secretaries, academic advisors, and senior officers including the Commissioner cum Secretary, Minister Gond was briefed by Aswathy S., Commissioner cum Secretary, on various schemes, programs, initiatives, and activities currently underway in the department.

Expressing the state government’s commitment to providing quality education in all schools, Minister Gond emphasized the implementation of aspirational curriculum frameworks. These frameworks prioritize coding, project-based learning, life skills development, and linguistic creativity to enrich the educational experience of students across the state.

“In our pursuit of ‘Good Education’ for every child in Odisha, we are focused on reopening government and government-aided schools that have been closed due to various reasons,” Minister Gond affirmed during the meeting.

The minister also directed departmental officials to ensure timely distribution of study materials to every block of the district in the upcoming academic year. Discussions during the review meeting highlighted strategies to enhance educational outcomes alongside the development of primary school infrastructure. Notably, efforts to expedite the establishment of Functional Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) classrooms were also deliberated upon.

Innovative steps such as the development of Asset Management Software were announced, aimed at bringing significant improvements in the management and efficiency of educational resources across the state.

Under the Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya (OAV) initiative, Minister Gond emphasized revitalizing school facilities and enhancing residential accommodations for students. Furthermore, plans are underway to convert high schools (HS) into higher secondary schools (HSS) based on local needs, with a commitment to web-publishing e-content to facilitate higher secondary education.

Looking ahead, the minister highlighted plans to enhance teacher training institutes and transform District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) into centers of excellence equipped with modern auditoriums. These measures are intended to elevate the professional capabilities of teachers through workshops and skill development programs.
