Odisha Govt Dissolves Governing Bodies of Non-Government Aided Degree Colleges

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has dissolved the Governing Bodies and Managing Committees of all non-Government Aided Degree Colleges under the Higher Education Department. The decision, which takes immediate effect, was announced through a notification issued by the department on Monday.

The notification clarified that this directive does not apply to Autonomous Colleges, institutions established by Minority Communities, or colleges involved in sub-judice matters regarding their Governing Bodies.

To ensure the continued functioning of these institutions during the interim period, the government has appointed temporary leadership based on the location of the colleges. For colleges located in district headquarters, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of the respective district will serve as the temporary President of the Governing Body or Managing Committee. In districts with multiple ADMs, the District Magistrate and Collector will nominate one ADM to handle this responsibility, with the nomination recorded by the Director of Higher Education.

For colleges situated outside district headquarters, the Sub-Collector of the relevant sub-division will take on the role of temporary President until further notice. The notification also directs these temporary Presidents to submit proposals for the formation of new Governing Bodies or Managing Committees within three months of the notification’s issuance.
