Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today issued firm directives to public sector oil marketing companies to ensure the timely and uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders across the State. The instructions were issued during a high-level review meeting chaired by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, at Bhubaneswar.
Emphasising that consumer interest is paramount, Singh said there must be no compromise on the timely delivery of cooking gas. He directed oil companies to maintain adequate stock levels and ensure a stable supply chain so that households do not face delays or disruptions.
Addressing concerns about the circulation of 5-kg LPG cylinders without proper safety guarantees, the Principal Secretary instructed officials to act swiftly on such complaints. He also called for regular inspections to curb black marketing and prevent unauthorised filling activities in the State.
Singh further highlighted the need for strengthened logistics and supply routes. He asked officials to write to the oil companies to explore multiple sources of LPG supply to Odisha, ensuring resilience and continuity in delivery operations.
The meeting also focused on issues affecting consumers, dealers, and oil marketing companies, with the Principal Secretary urging coordinated efforts to resolve bottlenecks and enhance service standards.
