
Bhubaneswar: In anticipation of the upcoming Rath Yatra, the State government of Odisha has declared July 8 as a holiday for banks, banking institutions, all government offices, and revenue and Magisterial courts. The announcement was made by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, which issued separate notifications confirming the closure.
The notification stated, “On the occasion of Rath Yatra, the Government of Odisha have been pleased to declare that all State Government Offices, as well as Revenue and Magisterial Courts (Executive), shall remain closed on 08.07.2024 (Monday), i.e., the day following the Rath Yatra.”
In addition, all banks and banking institutions will also remain closed on July 8 to mark the occasion.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a two-day holiday for the Rath Yatra on July 7 and 8. This year’s Rath Yatra will be observed over two days, a rare occurrence that last took place in 1971.
