Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated the monthly distribution of Public Distribution System (PDS) rations for January 2025, ensuring food security for beneficiaries across the state. District Collectors have been directed to expedite the lifting of PDS rice from government godowns, a process that began on December 6.
As of yesterday, Nabarangpur and Deogarh districts have successfully completed the lifting of their allocated rice. The remaining districts are expected to finish the process by the end of the day. The distribution of rations has already started in several parts of the state through government fair price shops and dealer points, with the entire process scheduled for completion by December 25.
The initiative follows a high-level meeting chaired by Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Shri Krushna Chandra Patra and attended by Principal Secretary Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, alongside senior officials. In the meeting, it was decided to provide beneficiaries with monthly rations to streamline the distribution process and enhance food security.
To further improve efficiency, District Collectors and Chief Civil Supply Officers have been instructed to expedite the e-KYC process for beneficiaries, with a target to complete it by next month. This measure aims to ensure accurate and transparent distribution of PDS benefits.
