
Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to enhance road connectivity between Boudh and Sonepur districts, the Odisha government has given the go-ahead for the construction of the second high-level (HL) bridge over the Mahanadi River. The decision was ratified during a state Cabinet meeting held today.
The proposed bridge will span from Baunsuni in Boudh district to Biramaharajpur in Sonepur district, fostering improved road communication and connectivity between the two regions. Chief Secretary PK Jena highlighted that the project aims to provide direct connectivity and open up economic opportunities for the residents on both sides of the river.
During the Cabinet meeting, the tender for the bridge project was approved, with RKD Construction Private Limited emerging as the lowest bidder. The state government has allocated a budget of Rs 105,70,99,350 for the project. The construction is expected to be completed within 36 months, with the government setting a target for timely execution.
Once completed, the second high-level bridge over the Mahanadi River is poised to bring immense benefits to the local populace. Direct connectivity will streamline transportation and facilitate economic activities, contributing to the overall development of the region. The project aligns with the government’s commitment to infrastructure development for the welfare of its citizens.
