Bhubaneswar: In a progressive move aimed at supporting working mothers, the Odisha government has approved the establishment of breastfeeding rooms in all government and private offices across the state. The decision, endorsed by the BJP-led government, extends beyond offices, mandating breastfeeding rooms in public spaces as well.
In a letter addressed to all District Collectors, Rina Mohapatra, Joint Resident Commissioner, Government of Odisha, directed officials to set up designated breastfeeding rooms where mothers can nurse their children in privacy and comfort.
“To help nursing mothers balance between their professional commitments and personal responsibilities, I request the establishment of breastfeeding rooms in all government/public, and private offices in the state,” the letter stated.
