
Bhubaneswar: In a momentous recognition of the stellar achievements of hockey players hailing from Odisha, the state government has declared cash awards to honour their outstanding performances on the international stage. The announced awards underscore Odisha’s rich legacy in the sport and its commitment to nurturing and celebrating talent.
Amit Rohidas and Deep Grace Ekka, who showcased exemplary performances representing India at the 2023 Men’s Asian Championship Trophy in Chennai and the 2023 Women’s Asian Championship Trophy in Jharkhand, respectively, will each be awarded Rs. 3,75,000. The Asian Champions Trophy, a biennial continental competition, witnessed these players contributing significantly to India’s success.
In recognition of their pivotal roles in the Indian Women’s Hockey Team’s Silver Medal win at the first edition of the FIH Hockey 5s Women’s World Cup 2024 in Muscat, Oman, Mariana Kujur, Jyoti Chhatri, and Ajmina Kujur will each be awarded Rs.12,50,000. The FIH Hockey 5s World Cup, held once every four years, witnessed these players displaying exceptional skills and teamwork, bringing pride to the nation.
