Odisha Govt Announces 3% Hike in Dearness Allowance for Employees and Pensioners

Bhubaneswar:  The Odisha government has announced a 3% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners. The increase, which raises the DA from 50% to 53%, was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday.

According to a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the DA hike will be implemented with retrospective effect from July 2024. Beneficiaries will receive the revised allowance in their salaries starting from October 2024.

This decision will benefit approximately 7.5 lakh government employees and pensioners across the state. The DA increase comes as a relief amid rising inflation, helping government staff and pensioners manage the increased cost of living.

This marks the second DA hike this year, following a 50% increase in January.
